Let The Eagle Fly
Book by John Reeger
Music and Lyrics by Julie Shannon

Cast Requirements: 10 M, 8F, 5 Children

Let the Eagle Fly tells the story of Cesar Chavez, one of the most influential civil rights leaders of our time and a crusader for non- violent change. With his beloved wife Helen and brother Richard at his side, together Chavez and his partner, activist Dolores Huerta, co-founded the Farm Workers Union. From his childhood as the son of migrant farm workers in the Great Depression, the story traces his life-long commitment to the non-violent struggle for social and economic justice. The musical focuses primarily on the five-year nationwide grape boycott.

Shannon [is] highly adept at a folksy, people’s theatre style. And that expertise...shows—and deftly matches the rousing material... Chavez’s story is both moving and powerful; there were plenty of damp eyes... It’s a personal history that deserves to be told and sung.
